Through a series of meetings Byron was able to solidify a range of co-designed objectives that sought to engage our Executive Leaders in understanding and engaging with our Compassionate Leadership Development as well as recognising the necessity for Inclusivity to be a core component of future delivery by widening the diversity of the programme content itself.
Byron undertook 2 core roles in the work with us, firstly in designing and modelling the facilitation of inclusivity training to both our Executive Board and to our colleagues across the Trust. Here we were encouraged to participate in the session itself, broadening our own learning and understanding of the subject as well as reflecting on how Byron worked to engage participants and compassionately challenge misconceptions and broaden new ways of thinking.
The second role was to evaluate our current programmes and then provide us with an extensive range of content to explore and adapt into the design of our next iteration of Compassionate and Inclusive Leadership Development. Byron was able to both celebrate and critique our programme and guide us toward diverse resources that have in the year since working with him, continued to expand organically as we have adopted a critical evaluation process of our own work.
Byron was generous in sharing his knowledge and resources and took the time to unpick content with us where there was difficulty in understanding it or thought required around how it might be received and perceived by participants. He was also incredibly sensitive to our own individual learning journey and offered gentle challenge and reflection throughout our individual de-briefs.
Byron’s style is clear and considered and always with a personable approach when liaising. We felt safe to explore what can be exposing topics of learning and Byron ensured there was never any judgement. Throughout our time together our working relationships became something like long standing colleagues – complete safety to make error, change minds and plenty of opportunity for humour.”
